Scott Brenner

Camper, Counselor, Group Leader, Webmaster, Historian

Scott's path at Tyler Hill Camp is similar to many of the fine alumni who have preceded him. Beginning in 1988, he spent eight years as a camper, he was a waiter, a counselor, a winning Color War General and a Group Leader as well. He created two of the Color War Plaques (for the 1998 Blue Team and 1999 White team). Scott also helped to create the summer web program in 1999, splitting the role as webmaster and general counselor, offering up the parents a first glimpse into their children's active camp life on a daily basis.

But Scott's most significant achievement is the Tyler Hill's AmAzing website, which he created in September 1998, initially starting out simply as a photo album of the previous summer. But this site has evolved over the years into an Alumni mega- site. Now, former campers and staff from all years are reuniting and reminiscing about the good times. Scott's website had become a real phenomenon and it continues to grow and evolve. In addition to providing an extensive alumni e-mail list, there are numerous links within the site that list historical facts about Color War Breakouts, the names of the Generals, as well as the names of over forty years of Color War teams. There are sound bytes of camp songs, too. Scott has reached out to other alumni, in order to gather facts and to check the accuracy of the information that is now being accessed on a daily basis by the alumni, as well as by current campers and staff.

He enlisted the help of Paul Sundick, who submitted a portion of his collection of photographs towards the creation of The Sundick Archives, which is featured on Scott's website. Paul also gave Scott images of all of his Color War shirt and coversheet designs, which Scott has brilliantly incorporated into yet another section on the site.

Scott's interest in Tyler Hill Camp's history, along with his willingness to partner up with some of the older alumni has helped to keep the past alive. While Scott continues to be an active and loyal member of the Tyler Hill Camp of today, he has also become one of the caretakers of our history.
