Lois Kornstein

Head Nurse

In the early 1960's, Lois began her service as a nurse in the Infirmary, working for the Head Nurse, Lillian Goodsmith, who was Bill Goodsmith's wife. Within a few years, Lois was in charge, and few at camp disputed that fact. For over 20 years, Lois ran the Infirmary with impressive authority. On a daily basis, after every meal, she navigated the long line of allergy shots, bug bites, jammed fingers, sore throats, whiners, complainers, fakers, hypochondriacs, as well as the occasionally serious medical problems, all with unflappable confidence.

Her three sons were long-time campers and counselors, including the twins, Eddie and Phil, who were opposing Color War Generals in 1977. She was respected and trusted by Bill and Joe, the Camp Doctors, and a generation of campers and counselors. She was one of the many legendary characters from the Golden Years at Tyler Hill.
