Lee Kweller

Music Supervisor

Lee first came to Tyler Hill Camp for a short turn in the early seventies, and then for his long run as Music Supervisor in the eighties. In the tradition of his legendary predecessor, Milt Friedman, Lee provided the musical direction in all of the camp plays. As a pianist, he accompanied the Boys' and Girls' Sings, as well as the Color War Sings, and helped to write many of the songs. But he also wrote his own music, and provided a number of catchy songs that became a part of Tyler Hill Camp's culture, including "Tyler Hill is People."

Lee was another one of those popular camp characters who obviously enjoyed being at camp. Although he was not allowed to participate in the Hatchet Hunt, he agonized over Selma Sundick's clues, year after year, with the same enthusiasm as any of the campers. After he finished his meal in the Dining Room, Lee would sit at the piano and play songs, usually for the Girls' side, which is where his fan base was.

Lee still provides his musical talents for Tyler Hill Camp, and he is helping to keep some of the old traditions alive.
