Camp Doctor



Herb was part of a rotation of several Camp Doctors during the sixties, but most people remember Herb because he was a popular camp character, as well as a good friend to Bill, Joe, Sy and many other members of the Tyler Hill Camp staff. Herb first met Bill, Joe and Sy in 1953, at Camp Rosemont, where he and the Sundicks became close friends.

In addition to being a fine physician, Herb was a highly visible character around camp, wearing his trademark sunglasses, he often attended the games around camp, as he clearly enjoyed being at Tyler Hill Camp. His children, Eric and Ellen were lifetime campers, and like their father, eventually went on to become Color War Generals in 1982, where they opposed one another.

Herb has maintained many of his friendships from camp, and now that his grandchildren are campers at Tyler Hill Camp, we can expect new Herb sightings in the future.
